Venice Document. et al., The Fundamental Practice is published in association with et al.’s exhibition, ‘the fundamental practice’ showed in the 51st Venice Biennale. The main research focus was the integration of multi-faceted computer and network technologies within a substantial site-specific sculptural installation. Integrated audio content included found texts spoken through third generation text-to-speech synthesized voice, and a hundred media files. The work was monitored off-site, with a customized programme updated from New Zealand via a web interface. The Fundamental Practice was supported by Creative New Zealand, the Arts Council of New Zealand Toi Aotearoa.
