'This catalogue and the exhibition it accompanies examine the corpus of Walters' printmaking. In doing so, Gordon Walters: Prints + Design expands what is included within that corpus, by giving overdue attention to the works Walters designed for various publications. My contention is that rather than being separate from Walters' artistic production, his work as a designer played a significant role in the development of his method and style, and that it allowed him to experiment with different modes of working and present that work to a broad public. Gordon Walters: Prints + Design thus amplifies and extends Dunn's comment that printmaking was indeed an important aspect of Walter's artistic production, perhaps more so than it has hitherto been presented.'
