Covenant cut-out series, Shaun Waugh, set of cards

Shaun Waugh’s Covenant cut-out series shows parcels of land chosen by their owners as having natural or cultural value worthy of safeguarding in perpetuity and covenanted under the Queen Elizabeth II National Trust. By colouring in these areas with a palette defined by the colour picker chart available in the software the artist uses for digital rendering, Waugh points out where private interest merges with public good. Six works from the series were acquired in 2015 for the Victoria University of Wellington Art Collection, a collection of New Zealand art that has been built since the 1940s for the benefit of staff, students and the wider public.
